Japanese primrose "Deluxe Mixture" - Primula japonica.
A very beautiful and popular candelabra primrose.
Plant height is 40-50 cm, flower diameter is 2 cm.
Natural flowering period: May - July.
Hardiness zones: Z4 - Z8.
Soil requirements: moist/marshy/riverside.
Uses: aquatic or marsh plant.
1.0 g = 4300 seeds.

A perennial plant with a basal rosette of oblong-lanceolate, deep-green leaves and rising peduncles (40-50 cm tall) bearing clouds of graceful, vibrant red-pink flowers. The flowers, up to 3 cm in diameter, are arranged in whorls on the peduncle, often forming up to five tiers.
It looks beautiful in flowerbeds and borders, especially in shady areas of the garden, where it will thrive. It can also be used for cutting.
Sowing: In late April–May, sow in the ground in nursery beds, planting them slightly deeper, or in February–March for seedlings (for a more reliable result, first freeze the seedlings for 3–4 weeks at a temperature no higher than -10°C, then place them on a windowsill, shading them from direct sunlight). Seedlings emerge in 16–18 days. Care should be taken to ensure the soil does not dry out. After the first true leaf appears, transplant the plants. Plant them outdoors in May–June, once the danger of frost has passed. They can grow in the same location for up to 5 years.
Prefers semi-shaded areas with loose, but sufficiently moist soil, free from weeds.
Care: For long-lasting and abundant flowering, plants require timely watering, regular weeding, loosening and fertilizing.
In spring, primroses are very demanding of moisture but do not tolerate stagnant water. After flowering, the plant should be fed with a small dose of complete mineral fertilizer. As it grows, add nutritious soil to the roots. It is winter-hardy under snow cover, but it is best to cover it with a 10-15 cm layer of dry tree leaves for the winter.
